TIFF's

We save the scans of your images as TIFF's (Tagged Image File Format).

TIFF files are a lossless format, meaning that unlike many other file types used for photographic images, TIFF's do not compress the image data and as a result of this retain maximum quality, unlike JPEG images for example that compress the image data and lose quality every time they are opened and then closed again.

Using computer photo software you make JPEG copies of your TIFF scans, which can then be manipulated to your heart's content.

Note that the image published on the right has a black border.
The black border is the slide mount that our scanner has scanned.
This is how your images will be presented to you, we crop nothing out
to ensure you get as much of the 35mm (24mm x 36mm) image as possible.
